This paper discusses how organizational culture influences the engineering discipline. It also recounts some of the great contributions of minorities to engineering. In addition to, there are four specific problems mentioned in the Gender Equity Handbook at Brown University. These are the problems that have been analyzed through advising and counseling engineering students at the high school and the collegiate levels. It also provides strategies for improving the relationship between engineers and minorities; as well as lists the major organizations designed to support minorities entering technical areas specifically, science, engineering, and mathematics.
