Measurements of circumsolar radiation at the plataforma solar (spain) and at DLR (germany)

The forward-scattered solar radiation leading to a circumsolar aureole affects the performance of solar concentrating systems.The circumsolar ratio CSR is oftne used for describing in a simple way the main feature of the brightness distribution.The DLR has developed a portable system that can measure the solar brightness and calculate the CSR.This system previously recorded a first data set at the DLR Cologne site.A pyranometer was recently added to the system in orde rto additionally measure the global horizontal irradiance.
