During the casting and drying of green sanitaryware products, stresses develop which lead to diferential shrinkage. By subjecting a series of green products to three-point bending, the stress-strain relation has been measured as a function of the moisture content. The experimental results have been characterized with strain hardening and mechanical models. The model parameters can be used for simulations serving to speed up development and to optimize the processing of green sanitaryware products. Furthermore, a qualitative explanation for the trends in the parameters is developed.
