The attenuation and reflectivity due to snow are calculated at frequencies 35, 94 and 140GHz, and their effects on suc hperformances of mm wave radars are evaluated as false alarm rate, detection rate and maximum range. The known distribution of melted sizes of snowflakes is converted into that of true size of snow particles. The false alarm rate is evaluated as a function of the reflectivity. The detection rate and maximum range are evaluated as functions of both the attenuation and reflectivty.
