摘要

Process and material problems occurring in the production of insulated wire, cables, extruded tubes and even glass tubes are in many cases indicated by surface flaws. In addition to being visually unattractive, these flaws can also indicate a potential weakness in the structure of the product. This paper describes the types of flaws encountered in several product types and offers a modern advance using fiber optic sensing devices and leading edge electronics to make flaw detection reliable and affordable.
