In fiber star networks, power division leads to limited number of supportable users. With optical amplifiers to compensate for power attenuation, fiber networks can be expanded. Several network structures have been checked[1-4]. In [3], Multiple Parallel Loop (MPL) scheme is proposed. As an improvement of the MPL scheme, a Single Loop Bus (SLB) topology is investigated in detail in [4]. In this paper, based on bidirectional optical amplifiers and π couplers, we propose a bidirectional transparent (BTL) network configuration. Compared to the MPL and SLB schemes, the BTL structure can save much optical fiber and optical filters.
