A natural language system and its users

Describes the results of an ICL-internal project to produce annatural enquiry language system (NEL) by adding a PROLOG front-end tonQuerymaster, the standard ICL program for querying information stored inna database. Querymaster runs under VME on the ICL 2900 series and Seriesn39 computers. It provides access to various types of database includingnIDMS and conventional files, using CAFS (content addressable file store)nhigh-speed facilities where appropriate. The user expresses hisnquestions to Querymaster in an easy to use computer language
