The paper deals with the influences of lime adding amount, preheating surface temperature and adding desilication seeds to slurry on scaling on preheating surface of diasporic bauxite slurry in Bayer process. Several technical methods of decreasing and restraining the preheating surface of diasporic bauxite slurry from scaling were proposed. The scaling rate can be slowed down to a certain extent by selecting appropriate adding amount of lime according to the composition of bauxite, decreasing the temperature of preheating surface as lower as possible and adding suitable desilication seed to the slurry. For example, using steam instead of molten salt as the heating media, is beneficial to slow down the general scaling rate.
