This paper is a vehicle level review of the Mazda Premacy FC-EV powered by TH!NKrnusing a Methanol Fuel Cell System that converts liquid methanol into hydrogen reformaternused by the fuel cell for electrical power generation. The attributes such as weight,rnpackaging, fuel system (range), thermal management system, auxiliary battery loads,rnoverall efficiency, and vehicle performance will be covered including the complexities andrnremaining OEM challenges with the use of on-board reformers for powering a FCEV. Inrnaddition, snap shots in time of the 7 month development program starting with arnconverted platform chassis leading to a running prototype to achieve Japan's first Ministryrnof Transportation certified FC-EV will be covered.
