Estimation of longitudinal load on a transmission tower due to ice shedding is normally determined based on the deterministic approach where a factor is applied either on the ice thickness or the ice weight to quantify the shedding amount. However the shedding process itself is a random one and therefore the net effect of the shedding on a tower (i.e longitudinal unbalance load) should be estimated to reflect this random phenomenon. The Monte Carlo method is used here to compute the probabilistic unbalance force on a transmission tower.
