The objectives of this paper is to assess the relationship between health, job demands and job resources in a sample of emergency rescue workers (of ambulance emergency service, and intervening in flash floods, tunnel incidents, etc.). A cross-sectional survey design was used. Stratified random samples (N=909) were taken of emergency employees. The study particularly examined a similar model of previous research (Bakker & Demerouti, 2007; Rothmann, Strydom, & Mostert 2006), with the aims of investigating the construct validity, construct equivalence and reliability of a measuring instrument of job demands and resources with an emphasis on the workers practices, collective activity, and negative work-home interference, as resulted mainly from the qualitative preliminary analyses.
