摘要

Presence of unbalance in discs and rotors is a very common problem in rotating machineries. Balancing of rotors is generally either performed on balancing machines or via field balancing. Field balancing involves on-site-balancing carried out after a rotor has been mounted in its position. Balancing of a thin disc, which can be treated as a single plane unbalance problem, can also be field-balanced by taking four measurements with trial masses at different locations. This paper presents a mathematical procedure to arrive at the magnitude and the position of the balancing mass. The development of the procedure is described accompanied by the derivation of the mathematical relations connecting known and unknown quantities.
