Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of Non-evaporative diesel fuel spray has been simulated to understand the turbulent unsteady structure of the diesel fuel spray. KIVALES model which is LES version of the KIVA code has been used for simulations. In the present work one equation LES model known as k-A model is implemented into the KIVA solver. Simulations are carried out in a constant volume vessel of 30 mm diameter and 100 mm in length. Results show that LES approach is able to capture the inhomogeneous, unsteady structure of the fuel spray compared to RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) simulations. Spray tip penetration obtained from LES approach show good agreement with experiments. Results show LES is able to capture the unsteady vortex structures compared to RANS simulations.
