Simplified Method for Mechanical Analysis of Safety Class 1 Piping

Nuclear codes have detailed regulations on the mechanical analysis of safety Class 1 piping. But restricted calculationrnfacilities often limit the ability to analyze Class 1 piping so that analytical design requirements are not completely satisfied.rnThis paper discusses a simplified mechanical analysis method for Class 1 piping using a general-purpose finite elementrncomputer program. A part of the Class 1 piping system in HTR- 10 is used as an example to introduce the mechanical analysisrnand safety evaluation procedure. The analysis emphasizes the need to satisfy the regulations for the Class 1 piping in thernnuclear codes.
