With an ongoing trend of electronic circuits towards miniaturization and simultaneously an increasing demand for tight specification, a thin film resistor array represents a versatile solution for these aspects of application demands. When designing an electronic circuit, the desired function not only depends on the active, but on the passive components as well. Especially the ratio of resistors and their relative behavior are of importance for the overall circuit characteristics. This paper will show, how the use of application specific resistor arrays, based on advanced thin film technology, optimizes stability and performance of electronic applications. In particular, tolerance matching, TCR tracking and changes of resistance after testing, will be dealt with. Different resistor values on the same array will be considered in addition. Resistance changes after typical assembly and operation conditions and their effect on circuit functions will complete the paper.
