摘要

An ethylene plant operates at a wide range of temperature, pH and impurity concentration ― each affecting both fouling and corrosion rates. With the majority of ethylene plants constructed of carbon steel, corrosion can be significant and may cause leaks or equipment failure. Continued industry focus on reducing maintenance costs and increasing runlengths make both fouling and corrosion major concerns of today's ethylene operator. Management of impurities, pH and temperature can mitigate the consequences of corrosion.
