Monitoring of the foundations of a coastal structure submitted to breaking waves :Occurrence of momentary liquefaction

A bunker dating from the 2 2nd nd world war that is presently on the beachrndue to beach retreat, was used as a coastal structure. Differentrninstruments were deployed in its vicinity during three fieldrnexperiments carried out in 2002 and 2003. The results of fieldrnexperiments are presented herein. The time variation of pressurernmeasured at different depth inside the soil was investigated. The aimrnof the field experiment was to check the possible occurrence ofrnliquefaction during the erosion process of the foundations. Porernpressure measurements show the decay of the pressure variationsrntransmitted inside the soil and are discussed in terms of momentaryrnliquefaction occurrence.
