The LNG receiving terminals of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. have been in operation for more than 30 years, and problems such as corrosion are being found in some places. To confirm the reliability of these LNG terminals and facilities, we have been conducting cross-sectional equipment inspections and studies aimed at determining effective and efficient countermeasures, since 1997.rnThis report introduces a summary of these activities, focusing on examination procedures.First we determined the possible deterioration modes for various types of equipment, based on the particular characteristics of the different parts of that equipment. We then compared the results with the items on the maintenance checklists to confirm which deterioration modes should be given management priority. Next we conducted comprehensive inspections for each deterioration mode, placing priority on facilities related to flammable fluids, and determined maintenance management methods based on the confirmed current condition of the respective facilities. Finally, the former maintenance manuals were revised, and these results were reflected in our maintenance operations.rnWe will introduce the following three specific examples of case studies that werernperformed.rn1. Ordinary-temperature piping rnMaintenance management standards and protective measures implemented.rn2. Urethane blocks to support cryogenic piping rnActual sampling inspections and replacement criteria.rn3. Concrete structuresrn Maintenance management standards and life cycle costing (LCC) evaluations for future repairs.
