摘要

The contact pressure and shear stress on the surface of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) rod in contact with an aluminum alloy counterface of two different hardnesses were studied. The main objective was to investigate the effect of high contact pressures on the sliding behavior of the couple. The shear stress was related to the sliding distance. A modified coefficient of friction was introduced and found to express correctly the decrease in shear stress with increase in contact pressure. In addition, the effect of clamping load on the compressive displacement of the rod and sleeve was investigated. The relationship was found to be nonlinear, with the sleeve hardness having a minimal effect.
