National 1000MWe PWR is based on China government program of national nuclearrnpower development during the 10th 5-Years Period of china. The research program ofrnnatural circulation steam generator of national 1000MWe PWR is one of its subprogram.rnA concept design of natural circulation steam generator for national 1000MWe PWRrnhas been proposed and a relevant research program to validate the efficiency and/orrneffectiveness of some new designed assemblies and components has been achieved.rnInvestigating the steam generator designed for national 1000MWe PWR, three salientrnfeatures can be noticed. (1)Steam separation equipment was improved and carryoverrnmoisture was further reduced to be below 0.1%. (2)With the water level at secondaryrnside elevated, secondary side water volume was extended to satisfy the EPRI-URDrnrequirements of LFB20'. (3)An inactive device, sludge collector, was incorporated tornenhance the secondary sludge control. And the validation research program includedrntwo parts, (1)Cold state screening test, hot state validation test and correspondingrncomputational analysis for steam separator. (2)Cold state test and correspondingrncomputational analysis of sludge collector design.rnThe validation tests have been accomplished in 2001. Three sets of steam separatorrnwere selected from cold screening tests for hot validation. And the hot tests showed thernmost important parameters, outlet carryover, of all three sets were under 0.1%. The bestrnone was only 0.0018%. The sludge collector test showed its collecting efficiency wasrnover 50%.rnThe satisfying validation test results prove the steam separator equipment and sludgerncollector design for the steam generator is effective and reasonable. Based on thernresearch program, a detailed steam generator of national 1000MWe PWR will bernachieved.
