The soil Is a key element in controlling the fate of heavy metals in the environment and it is important to understand the retention of Pb and Cd in soils. The research of retention and migration processes of Pb and Cd was investigated using glass columns, uniformly packed with Camble Chernozem soil from Fundulea. The columns have been percolated with solution with increasing concentration of Pb, respective Cd. In the collected percolate, Pb and Cd were analysed. After percolation, in the soil dried in air Pb and Cd extractable in NH_4OAc 0.5n - AcOH 0.5 n, Na_2EDTA 0.02 m, in HNO_3 0.5 n and in distilled water were obtained. Pb and Cd analyses have been done using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The paper presents the detailed results of the experiment and the specific equations that describe the heavy metal quantities retained in different forms in soil, and also those that percolated the soil column, depending on the applied quantities.
