THE STUDY ON THE TRACK TURNING TRACE

Beginning with the movement status of an arbitrary point on a track shoe, the motion of the point was analyzed by means of different coordinates and their relationships. The trace equation of an arbitrary point on the shoe while the tracked vehicle is turning was obtained. This equation is a function of the track gauge, the shoe width, the velocities of either side tracks and the slip ratio. This paper is significant in the further study on the turning mechanism of a tracked vehicle , and in promoting the study on turning behaviour of various tracked vehicles. Particularly, it is also helpful to explain the coefficient of turning resistance moment of a tracked vehicle turning on soft land. The turning trace diagram of a crawler―mounted amphibious excavator, model SLWY―60A, was drawn by means of a computer, the analysis was also done by computer.
