Analysis of various ammonia defrosting systems

This paper is focussing on various ammonia defrosting systems used in industrial applications. The analysisrnis based on measurements carried out on a full scale ammonia installation equipped with two different typesrnof defrosting systems (pressure control method and liquid control method), tested with different sequences.rnThe installation has been equipped with pressure, temperature and mass flow measuring equipment.rnThe purpose of this analysis is to documents the efficiency of the two systems tested with differentrnsequences, and determines the key parameters for the most energy effective system.rnThis paper will also discuss the pitfalls, which may be considered in order to ensure a safe and reliablernsystem.
