Social Actor Modeling in ICT Research

摘要

A social actor model could help researchers approach ICT studies in a better-integrated way, if it could be formalized without losing its explanatory flexibility. This paper describes an ongoing formalization project to develop a social actor model for ICT research, with solid measures of attributes and behaviors that conflate people and their technologies. Using metrics derived from institutional theory, social actor simulations are being developed that interrelate formal models and theories of cognitive understanding and collaborative action to establish a better basis for reasoning about ICT-infused environments.
