Information Technology Implementations: Managing IT Innovation in the Malaysian Commercial Banking Industry

This paper attempts to shed lights in understanding how Malaysian banking organizations deals with major IT implementations. It presents the findings of qualitative case studies in twelve Malaysian commercial banks. The analysis generated three important themes - strategy, structure, and technology. Interactions among these factors were found to have affected the IT system implementations in the way that would either facilitate or impede the implementation process. The final analysis suggests that these factors could also determine the degree of success of the IT implementations.
