A commercial CFD code,CFX5,is used to predict the subcritical turbulent flow in two arrangements of staggered tube bundles.The predictions were performed using low Reynolds number k-ε and k-ω models and a second moment closure with a wall function.The results show that the mean axial velocity is reasonably well predicted by all models.The k-ε and k-ω models yielded better predictions of the mean flow in the regions just behind and in front of a tube than the second moment closure.The second moment closure model did not provide reasonable predictions of the Reynolds stresses,which is consistent with the literature.
