摘要

The aim of this paper is to provide a framework for the numerical computation of in vitro hemolysis index over medical devices.The method is based upon the solution of the incompressible Navier- Stokes equations and the algebraic Giersiepen-Wurzinger blood damage equation.A novel interpretation of this equation replaces the computation of blood damage along streamline by a volume integration of a damage function defined in the computational domain.This procedure is validated over 3D test cases and confirms its ability for the classification of medical devices in terms of their innocuousness to blood.
