Airship improvements in ground handling and safety devices

摘要

This paper sets out to briefly describe some improvements in the Ground Handling of Airships and the updating of certain safety devices that have been developed and trialled by Westinghouse Airships utilizing the Sentinel 1000 airship as part of an ARPA Risk Reduction Program. The main emphasis of this paper will be to describe the Bow Thruster and results of the test program using the S1000. A brief resume of trials conducted on new Unimog winches, a tethering device and improved fuel bladder recovery methodlogy is also included.
