Expecting specific tribological behavior of nodular spheroidal graphite cast iron (grade EN-GJS-450-10) due to its particular composition (C = 3,5 %, Si= 2,8%, Mn= 0,2 %) on one side, and metallurgical structure on the other side, various morphology resulting from abrasive manufacturing process have been tested.rnSystematic measurements of the resulted morphology following various stages of surface topography generation processes: sawing, few two bodies abrasives processes with sandpapers and three bodies abrasion polishing has been widely investigated.rnKinetics of surface morphology are totally characterized giving some indications of surface texture according to ISO 4287, ISO 12085 related to roughness, waviness, profile, motif parameters, ISO 13565-2 and ISO 13565-3 and to ISO 8785, which covers "surface imperfection". The metal matrix microstructure being pearlitic - ferritic, and graphite nodules -"surface imperfection"- existence are exploring as lubricant reservoirs in boundary lubrication tests. Quality control of tribological performance are based on systematic metrological investigations in field of morphological characterizations. These problems are treated in the broad context of bi and tri - dimensional surface roughness metrology. Surfaces topography multi-scale kinetics in terms of its evolution under various abrasive processes are presented and elucidated thanks to theirs morphological descriptors.
