Offshore wind energy with HVDC transmission: Recent development in Japan

This paper presents the recent status of offshore wind energy and HVDC transmission from it in Japan. In 2015, NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) in Japan launched the new project for the HVDC transmission from the offshore wind-farm. This project aims system integration to reduce the cost and increase the performance. This paper shows some aspects of the new development proposed in this project.
