Conventional PACS are passive medical image storage, retrieval and communication systems. Modern day radiology is taxing due to the exponential increase in the amount of patient data and lack of PACS-integrated intelligent systems that help radiologists to reduce report turn-around times significantly. To alleviate the situation, we propose a next generation Intelligent Radiology Analytic and Collaborative Solution (IRACS), for radiology services, with intelligent features in the form of evaluation and treatment planning tools, automatic/semi-automatic reports generation, multimedia based reports, collaboration and communication tools for radiologists and referring physicians, and accessibility on smart devices.
