Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), containing two or more fused aromatic rings made up of carbon and hydrogen atoms, are a group of ubiquitous environmental persistent organic pollutants and have been recognized of major concern of environmental and health scientists due to their potential accumulation and mutagenic and carcinogenic effects in organisms (1). PAHs are mainly produced by incomplete combustion of organic material and fossil fuels. The largest emissions of PAHs in the atmosphere from vehicle exhaust, industrial discharge, home heating, biomass burning, and coal and wood combustion (2-4).
