Growth and yield of Asian catfish Clarias macrocephalus (Gimther) fed different grow-out diets

In the Philippines, catfish farming is a growing industry and one of the species being cultured is Clarias macrocephalus, a highly esteemed food fish because of its meat, Many studies have been done on breeding, hatchery and nursery of C. macrocephalus, but information on its culture is limited. Previously, C. macrocephalus culture in the Philippines did not prosper due to lack of efficient diet. Catfish are carnivores and catfish growers commonly use pelleted diet, chicken entrails, fish by-catch, rice bran or any combination of these. However, the supply of chicken entrails and trash fish are limited and seasonal.
