Validation Studies for Human Damage in Building Fire Model

This paper describes the possible validation techniques applicable to assess the validation of Human Damage in Building Fire Model given the boundary conditions of lack of data and lack of experts with overall knowledge of the system. The scope of the validation studies is to check the choice of the experts for building up and quantifying the model, the completeness of the model, the sensitivity analysis of the model's outcome and the convergence of the model's results. Several validation studies will be described into more details. Each of the studies serves at least one of the validation issues mentioned above. Together, the results of the studies are aimed not at obtaining a valid model, but rather at increasing the confidence in the performance of the model and at understanding the limitations in its applicability.
