The present invention relates to a method for preparing a medicament for treating or preventing a tumor in a subject or a diagnostic agent for detecting a tumor in a subject (A) HLA-H, HLA- in a sample obtained from the subject determining the expression of at least one nucleic acid molecule and/or at least one protein or peptide that is at least 85% identical to J, HLA-L, HLA-V or HLA-Y, wherein the nucleic acid molecule comprises said protein or polypeptide preparing a medicament comprising a nucleic acid fragment that encodes or comprises at least 150 nucleotides, and (B) is capable of inhibiting the expression of at least one nucleic acid molecule and/or at least one protein or peptide in a subject and/or and preparing a diagnostic agent capable of detecting the expression site of at least one nucleic acid molecule and/or at least one protein or peptide in vivo.
