Analysis system for body fluids and wound-related biomolecules

The present invention relates to a system for analyzing wound fluid. The system includes a clear layer, a membrane layer, and an indicator layer containing a colorimetric or fluorescent indicator for detecting pH, nitrite, enzymes, reactive oxygen species, reactive nitrogen species, nucleic acids, or combinations thereof. The membrane layer is impermeable to blood clots and cellular debris and permeable to wound fluid. Methods for analyzing wound fluids using the system and methods for detecting biological fluids on biomedical instruments and waste using the system are also provided.
