Antibodies specific for IL20-RB and use thereof for treating acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Acute exacerbation of COPD in patients (AE-COPD) is primarily due to respiratory infections and is associated with a relentless decrease in lung function, improved edema, as well as airway and systemic infections. Previous results showed that treatment with anti-IL-20Rb blocking antibody reduced bacterial burden and inflammatory infiltrates, resulting in S. Pneumonia-infected control mice showed increased bacterial clearance and protected CS-exposed mice from bacterial infection. Therefore, there is an interest in generating monoclonal antibodies specific for IL-20Rb with neutralizing activity for its use in the treatment of AE-COPD. The present invention meets this need by providing antibodies with specificity for IL-20Rb.
