A method for automatically detecting a landmark in three-dimensional dental scan data comprises the steps of: generating a two-dimensional depth image by projecting the three-dimensional scan data; using a convolutional neural network model to identify whether the two-dimensional depth image is full arch data obtained by scanning all the teeth of a patient or partial arch data obtained by scanning only a portion of the teeth of the patient; detecting a two-dimensional landmark within the two-dimensional depth image by using the fully-connected convolutional neural network model; and detecting a three-dimensional landmark in the three-dimensional scan data by inversely projecting the two-dimensional landmark onto the three-dimensional scan data.
