USE OF A HERBAL EXTRACT COMPRISING VERBASCOSIDE AND AUCUBIN FOR THE TREATMENT OF OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE

The present invention relates to a herbal extract comprising an extract of at least one plant of the genus Aloysia, preferably Lippia citriodora (Palau) Kunth (lemon beebrush) and/or Verbena Officinalis L. (common verbena), and an extract of at least one plant of the genus Plantago, preferably Plantago lanceolata L. (ribwort plantain) and/or Plantago major L. (broad-leaved paperbark), wherein said herbal extract comprises verbascoside and aucubin. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a composition comprising said herbal extract and the use thereof, preferably oral, as anti-inflammatory, for example to treat osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, shoulder, hand and/or cervical, and as an analgesic and/or antispasmodic. Lastly, the present invention relates to the method for preparing said herbal extract.
