Fatty acid analogs, as well as their use in the treatment of cognitive dysfunction, behavioral symptoms and chronic pain

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and a method for treating and preventing cognitive impairment, movement disorder, chronic pain, depression, loss of appetite and addiction. Also provided are methods for diagnosing and monitoring cognitive impairment, movement disorders, chronic pain, depression, loss of appetite, addiction and other symptoms such as convulsions or seizures. These compositions include fatty acid compounds and salts thereof that can be administered alone or with other medicines or as part of various treatment regimens. The compositions provided are effective in the regulation of markers including, but not limited to, behaviors associated with cognitive impairment, movement disorders, chronic pain, depression, loss of appetite, opiate addiction and other related symptoms.
