This disclosure provides quality monitoring systems for punching line errors and methods for monitoring punching line errors. A method for inspecting punched blanks on a punching line includes identifying at least one target error site for a given punched blank configuration, each of which has at least one target error site assigned a unique type of error. One or more images of each of the at least one identified target defect sites on blanks that have been punched according to the given die-cut blank configuration are taken with one or more cameras,which are assigned to each of the identified target error locations. The method involves analyzing one or more images of each of the at least one identified target error location and recognizing whether the unique error type associated with each of the at least one target error location is present. In addition, each unique error type is identified with an appropriate algorithm for unique error identification.
