A method of digital holographic imaging, with iterative steps of: a) backpropagation to the object coordinate of a hologram field comprising a spatial distribution of amplitude corresponding to the spatial distribution of intensity of the hologram and a spatial distribution phase, determination (S03a) of an object field involving a spatial distribution of absorption and phase shift of the imaged object, b) thresholding (S03b) of the values of the spatial distribution of absorption and phase shift by decreasing the values lower than a respective threshold, the thresholds decreasing at each iteration, c) by re-propagation of the object field towards the hologram coordinate, determination (S03c) of a modified hologram field comprising a spatial distribution of modified amplitude and modified phase, d) replacement (S03d) of the spatial phase distribution of the hologram field by the modified spatial phase distribution, the spatial distribution of phase shift and a bsorption of the imaged object being those of the object field of a last iteration.
