The present invention provides a sensor unit (3),designed for installation in a gas warning device (100) having a gas sensor (60), ready, and the gas warning device (1),having such a sensor unit (3), and further a method for performing a maintenance action on the gas detector (1) and a method for performing a gas measurement therewith. The sensor unit (3) has a circular cylindrical receiving device (10) and a lid (20) which has a cover plate (20'). In the circular cylindrical receiving device (10), the gas sensor (60) and at least one control and data processing unit (50),which communicates with the gas sensor (60). The cover plate (20') has a test gas access (21) through which a fluid path (a) is provided for the test gas to the gas sensor (60), and the receiving device (10) provides a fluid path for a measurement gas to the gas sensor (60). The sensor unit (3) has an electronic interface (111) present on the receiving device (10),which is designed to be communicatively connected in a user arrangement with a corresponding electronic interface.
