PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MMC type static vars compensator device which can be connected regardless of the type of a power system. A static power compensator according to an embodiment is connected to a single-phase AC system via a single-phase transformer. The static VAR compensator includes a power converter including a plurality of converter units connected in cascade, and a control device connected to each of the plurality of converter units. The control device may output a preset reactive power command, the line voltage of the single-phase AC system, the line current of the single-phase AC system, the output current of the power converter, and the plurality of converter units.
