PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method of establishing a flight pattern adjacent to a target to be followed by an aerial vehicle.SOLUTION: An exemplary method includes determining a stand-off distance to a target. The stand-off distance indicates a distance from the target at a point along a flight pattern. The exemplary method also includes generating the flight pattern in a form of a conchoidal transformation of a lemniscate based on the stand-off distance.SELECTED DRAWING: None
