Alpha-B crystallin in the diagnosis of neonatal brain injury

The present invention provides a method for the diagnosis of brain injury in a neonate, comprising analyzing the level of alpha-B crystallin in a tissue or fluid sample obtained from the newborn. The method is particularly useful for diagnosing preterm infants or newborns with low birth weight.
