The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for providing a residual useful life based on a diagnosis of components (44, 45, 46, 47) of an electric drive system (43) in a vehicle, with the following steps:– Detection of a plurality of operating variables (F) comprising at least one sensor size and/or at least one control variable in the vehicle;-Use multiple diagnostic models (13, 14, 15, 16) for multiple error types, each of which is designed to detect a specific error type in one of the components (44, 45, 46, 47) based on at least a part of the plurality of operating variables (F) and signal a corresponding error information associated with the error type;– Determine (S8, S9) a residual service life using a residual service model (17) depending on the signaled error information of the multiple diagnostic models (13, 14, 15, 16), wherein the residual service model (17) is designed to indicate a residual service life depending on error information of several diagnostic models;-Indicate the remaining useful life.
