The present invention relates to a device for striking a magnetorheological liquid with a magnetic field comprising a container for receiving a magnetorheological liquid, having a preferably upward-facing opening for at least partial immersion of the workpiece and/or tool into the magnetorheological liquid, at least one electromagnet mounted on the container for applying a magnetic field to the container;wherein the electromagnet comprises a magnetic conductor and a coil wrapped around the conductor and a power source electrically connected to the coil. Furthermore, the invention relates to a system and method for processing a workpiece and/or tool by means of the magnetorheological fluid.
