A method for preparing a material having a composition gradient characteristic, comprising: after blending a lithium source with a prepared precursor, increasing the temperature from room temperature to 300°C to 600°C at a speed of 2°C/min to 10°C/min and maintaining the temperature; after 5 hours to 18 hours of sintering, performing cooling in a furnace; then increasing the temperature from room temperature to 600°C to 1200°C at a speed of at 2°C/min to 10°C/min and maintaining the temperature; and performing sintering for 5 hours to 18 hours. A material prepared using the method has a composition gradient characteristic, and when the material is applied to a positive electrode of a battery, the battery has higher energy density and thermal stability, and the service life is prolonged.
