The invention relates to the non-therapeutic, preferably cosmetic, use of an extract of the plant Nephelium lappaceum to prevent the occurrence of and/or reduce unpleasant odours, advantageously on the skin and/or mucous membranes and/or skin appendages, in particular hair. The extract of N. lappaceum is used on its own or in a composition, topically or orally. The invention further relates to a non-therapeutic care method preferably comprising the topical application of the N. lappaceum extract or of a composition comprising the extract.
